Understanding the Strong Business Sentiment Towards 2025
Another year has arrived with its own set of challenges and opportunities for supply chains. As businesses prepare for the unpredictable, DHL Express has released a survey highlighting what small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) anticipate for 2025.
Optimism Despite Uncertainty
The survey reveals that 67% of SMEs expect improved performance in 2025 compared to 2024, even with potential new regulations and geopolitical dynamics. One major concern among these enterprises is the imposition of tariffs by the new presidential administration, which accounts for the primary focus of 67% of the respondents.
According to the survey, 40% of businesses are still analyzing how regulatory and policy changes could influence their growth. A divided sentiment exists, with 24% fearing negative impacts and 20% hoping for positive outcomes. Trade regulations remain a significant priority, indicating the continued relevance of international trade in 2025.
Strategic Changes on the Horizon
In the early days of the new year, 30% of the surveyed companies plan minor strategic changes to their supply chains, while 13% anticipate significant overhauls. This leaves 57% opting to maintain their current strategies despite potential disturbances.
For growth, 40% see opportunities in reaching new markets, while 31% cite economic recovery and 14% look to new technology as key growth factors.
Testing Supply Chain Resilience in 2025
2025 will challenge the adaptability of supply chains and logistics providers in response to policy shifts and unforeseen events.

Broker Liability Discussions Continue
The legal discussions surrounding broker liability, where brokers are considered responsible when carriers hired by them face incidents, continue. The recent legal rulings favor 3PLs, with the 7th Circuit endorsing protection, despite the Supreme Court's continued refusal to review such cases.
