Top 8 Game-Changing Upgrades to SONAR in 2024

With 2024 drawing to a close, team leaders at SONAR, a leading logistics data platform, shared exciting upgrades during a Thursday webinar hosted by their team. These enhancements promise to redefine how users engage with logistics data, providing more streamlined usability and faster access to vital information.

1. A New and Improved User Interface

SONAR introduced a sleek and powerful new user interface, designed to enhance navigation and reduce load times. "It got a whole new look," stated Danielle Roberts, the onboarding specialist team lead. The focus was on making SONAR’s extensive data more accessible and user-friendly, resulting in overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers.

2. Market Dashboard and Market Dashboard+

The Market Dashboard updates allow users to view current spot and contract rates more efficiently. In 2024, SONAR added Key Market Area (KMA) rates for deeper insights, particularly in flatbed markets. According to enterprise customer success manager Gabby Francisco, "Flatbed TRAC rates have proven invaluable, closely aligning with the market."

3. Quick Rates Tool

This efficient tool provides a simple interface to quickly obtain rate information, requiring minimal input from users. As Kent Bakker, the customer success team lead, explained, "This is a quick and easy way to retrieve the rates users are looking for, streamlining access to essential data."

4. Custom Pages

SONAR enhanced the ease of creating custom pages with 11 predefined layout options. These "wizard" page libraries can be customized to meet specific customer needs, offering tailored views of SONAR data.

5. Critical Events: Now Powered by Weather Optics

Through its integration with Weather Optics, SONAR now provides comprehensive weather impact forecasts. These include traffic flows and business disruptions among others, downloadable in Microsoft Excel for detailed analysis.

6. Excel Add-in

The new Excel add-in empowers customers to analyze SONAR data alongside their internal datasets within Microsoft Excel, facilitating enterprise-level data access without IT intervention. Francisco highlighted, "It's customizable, allowing users to draw meaningful insights independent of IT obstacles."

7. New Data

2024 saw the addition of several new datasets, expanding SONAR’s capabilities, including the Reefer and Flatbed Truckload Rate Indexes available nationally. This data enhances cross-border logistics insights, particularly for Mexico contract load volumes.

8. Broker Tool Kit: New Landing Page and Coverage Guide

SONAR introduced an interactive landing page with Truckload National Insights, providing clear strategic summaries for decision-making. Additionally, the new coverage guide offers brokers actionable insights to optimize their workflows and strengthen negotiations.
