2024 has been an absolute standout year for Lineage. Following a highly successful IPO, they've made waves with yet another acquisition—ColdPoint Logistics, a Kansas City-based cold storage giant.

This deal marks their largest acquisition since going public, though the specifics remain undisclosed. ColdPoint’s facility boasts an impressive 621,000 square feet with over 62,000 pallet positions, seven blast cells, and an independent boxing room.

Ridgewood Infrastructure, keen on expanding into essential U.S. infrastructure, has announced their investment in Valley Cold Storage & Transportation. Valley Cold specializes in temperature-controlled logistics.

Ridgewood’s managing partner, Ross Posner remarked, “This acquisition aligns with our strategy of investing in infrastructure that supports vital supply chains. Valley Cold is poised for substantial growth, and we’re excited to contribute to its potential.”

The rapid expansion in the cold storage sector suggests more acquisitions are on the horizon.

Chocolate pasta might raise eyebrows, but Pastazerts is betting on its success with their chocolate ravioli desserts. This startup is currently seeking funding to scale their frozen treats.

SONAR Data

National reefer rejection rates have doubled from last year, signaling a shift in the refrigerated truckload market. With the start of Christmas tree season in Thanksgiving week, demand from regions like the Northwest has intensified.

West Coast rejection rates have soared to over 17%, and the Midwest has also seen a significant increase to about 15% from last year’s 8%. This pattern suggests more than just seasonal fluctuations in the cold chain logistics space.
